Annerley House is a renovation project for a demolition controlled dwelling at Annerley, Brisbane. The house is built on a small lot and is characterized by its existing facade features and materials that aim to engage and integrate the dwelling with its surrounding context, being predominantly fibrecement, timber and stone. The planning of the house is composed of 2 levels of independent living with their own entries. The client’s interests were to live in a home with his parents but maintain his own family privacy for an independent lifestyle. Both levels feature and open plan living with kitchen and private outdoor space which looks out to views at the rear. The home boasts a large covered deck on the upper level to entertain family and guests. The simplicity in choice of cladding materials and smart planning helped create an enjoyable home to live in within the client’s budget constraints.
